British Soccer Camp

As in previous years, Soccer on the Hill, in conjunction with Challenger Sports, will be providing our annual British Soccer camp here on Capitol Hill. This day camp provides a great chance for our soccer players to learn new skills, sharpen the ones they have, and spend time with coaches from England, Scotland, and Wales. The morning session runs from 9am to Noon, the afternoon from 1pm to 4pm, with a supervised lunch break for the full-day campers. Each session (morning and afternoon) begins with fun, skill-building drills, and then moves on to round-robin competition, each team representing a different country.

The camp provides each camper with a ball and a t-shirt. Campers should bring their own soccer footwear, cleats, hat, sunscreen, snacks, and lunch (for full-day campers). Water and Gatorade will be available, but we strongly encourage our campers to bring their own water too.

Challenger has a special “Mini-Camp” program specifically for younger players ages 4-5. This program requires a minimum number of children to run, and in past years we have not had sufficient players. If you are interested in the mini-camp, please sign up soon so we can be sure we have enough players. Contact Cary O'Brien, if you have any questions.

One of the great ways to help out with the Challenger Camp is to host one of our great coaches from the UK. This is a great opportunity for your family to learn about another country, and a whole lot of fun for everyone involved. Everyone seems to enjoy hosting a coach, and many host families are looking forward to hosting again this year.

If you are at all interested in hosting a coach, you can indicate this when you register, and if you have any questions please contact Camp Coordinator Cary O'Brien (cobrien@radix.net).
