Soccer is for children 3 to 18 years old. It is played for 2 outdoor seasons, Fall and Spring.  The Fall season runs from early September to mid-November.  The Spring season runs from late March to mid-June.  Indoor soccer is played in January and February on Saturdays or Sundays.

 

Rain is not inclement weather. Games will be played unless cancelled due to heavy rain, electrical storms, or field condition.  DO NOT assume that games will be cancelled if it is raining or forecast to rain.  Check the home page for cancellations. 

 

Soccer on the Hill has a policy regarding players wanting to play in an age bracket higher than their age on the age date of July 31.  Click here to see the policy.

Fall Soccer 2010

 

Soccer for U4, U5, U6, U7/8 boys, U10 boys, U8 & U10 girls starts Sat. Sept. 11and ends November 13 except for Columbus Day weekend.

  

SFL U11-U16 games start Sept. 11 and end Nov. 13 except Columbus Day weekend; details at www.sflsoccer.org.

 

Players registered in fall '10 are also registered for spring '11.

Indoor Soccer 2010 (not updated to 2011) 

 

U4/U5/U6 will be Saturdays Jan. 9 - Feb. 27(including holiday weekends) from 10 - 11am at Kendall gym on Gallaudet campus.  Please arrive 10 min. before starting time.  NOTE: Basketball for the same age group is offered from 9 - 10 am.  A separate registration and $30 fee is needed.

 

Format will be the same as the outdoor sessions.  Regular running shoes are required.  NO CLEATS are allowed.

 

Registration is open to all players whether or not they played Fall outdoor soccer.  The fee is $30.  Kendall students are free.

U7/8 - U16 will be Sundays Jan. 10 through Feb. 28(including holiday weekends) at Kendall gym on Gallaudet campus.

 

Format is pickup style games by age group.  There are no practices.  Regular running shoes are required.  NO CLEATS are allowed.

 

Registration is open to all interested players whether or not they played Fall outdoor soccer.  The fee is $40.  Kendall students are free.

 

1pm - U7/8 boys and girls.

 

2 pm - Soccer skils clinic for any U7 - U16 player registered for indoor soccer.  Organized by Whitney Minnis, SOTH technical director.  Bring your own ball with name written on it.

 

3 pm - U10 boys and girls.

 

4 - 6pm - U11 - U16 boys and girls.

Under 4 (U4) and Under 5 (U5) Coed

U4 is for 3 year olds (as of the preceding July 31) and meet from 10:10 to 11:00am on Saturdays at Providence Park, aka X Park.


U5 is for 4 year olds (as of the preceding July 31) and meet from 9:00 to 10:00am on Saturdays at Providence Park, aka X Park.

NOTE: Not all 3 and 4 year olds are ready for soccer related, organized group activities.  If in doubt, bring your child for a test run.  If they are not ready, try the next season.  Discuss any questions with the commissioner.

 

At this age, activities require ALL parents to be assistant coaches, so come prepared to help and enjoy (re)learning the game with your kids.

 

Kids are divided into small instructional groups for soccer exercises and drills.

Under 6 (U6) Coed
U6 is for 5 year olds (as of the preceding July 31) and will meet on Saturdays at Watkins ES field from 9:00 to 10:15am.  Kids are divided into small coed and girls instructional groups for soccer drills and small-sided scrimmages.  U6 Commissioner is Patrick Coyne 202-547-1776 or

Under 7/8 (U7-U8) Boys (girls can also play)
U7/U8 Boys is for 6-7 year olds (as of the preceding July 31).  Girls can also play.  Teams are formed.  House league games are played Saturday mornings at Tyler Field.  Practices are one or two evenings a week on Capitol Hill fields.  Players are assigned to teams by the U7/8 Commissioner: Alex Nock 202 390 2943 or alex.nock@verizon.net.


Under 8 (U8) Girls

U8 Girls is for 6-7 year old girls (as of the preceding July 31).  Teams are formed and house league games are played Saturday mornings at Kingsman Field.  Practices are one or two evenings a week on Capitol Hill fields.  Players are assigned to teams by the U8 Commissioner: Doug Campbell 543-9872 or dougcampbell.soccer@yahoo.com

 

Under 10 (U10) Boys (girls can also play)

Under 10 (U10) Girls

U10 Girls is for 8-9 year old girls (as of the preceding July 31).  Teams are formed and games are played at Kingsman Field on Saturday mornings.  Practices are one or two evenings a week on Capitol Hill fields.  Players are assigned to teams by the U10 Commissioner: Danilo Pelletiere 202-543-7791 or dpelleti@earthlink.net  


Under 11 and older

All players of U11 or older age play on teams in the SFL(Suburban Friendship League).  SFL is a scheduling organization for recreational level teams in northern Virginia and DC.  There are 30 soccer clubs with about 500 teams in the SFL.  See www.sflsoccer.org for more information.

 

Teams are girls or boys (girls may play on boys teams).

Games are usually played on Saturdays, home games around Capitol Hill and away games in Northern Virginia.  

SOTH Fall 2010 SFL teams are U11, U12, U13, and U14 Girls; and U11, U12. U13, U15, and U16 Boys.  Girls can play on Boys teams.

Under 17–19 (U16 & U19)
