Basketball

The purpose of this program is to teach the game of basketball. It is open to kids ages 4–13 (pre-K to 8th grade). The age date is September 1, 2011.

The focus of the coaches and the participants will be fundamental skills, teamwork, being a good team player, and to enjoy the sport through competitive fun.

Boys' Division 2011-12

For boys ages 8 - 13, grades 3 thru 8. Fee is $110. Kendall students are free. Age date is Sept. 1, 2011. Please register online.

Teams will be formed by age as of Sept. 1, 2011 for ages 8 thru 13.

The season will start with practices on Fridays, Nov. 4, 11, and 19 at Kendall gym: 6 to 7 pm for ages 8 and 9.(grades 3, 4)

7 to 8:15 pm for ages 10, 11, 12.(grades 5,6,7)

8:15 to 9:30 pm for age 13(grade 8) .

Practices will continue on Fridays Dec. 2, 9, 16; Jan. 6, 13, 20, 27; Feb. 3, 10, 17, 24.

Games will be Saturdays Dec. 3, 10, 17 and every Sat. in Jan and Feb. including holiday weekends:

1 to 2 pm 8 and 9s,

2 to 315 pm for 10 and 11s

315 to 430 pm for 12 and 13's.

Coaches are needed for all age groups.

Girls' Division 2011-12

4th, 5th, 6th graders:

Wednesdays from 6 - 8pm: Nov. 30^th (kick-off of the season) Dec. 7, 14 and Jan 4 thru March 7.

Saturdays from 9 - 10am: Dec. 3, 10, 17 only

7th and 8th graders:

Thursdays from 6 – 8pm: Dec. 1 (kick-off of the season), 8, 15 and Jan. 5 thru March 8. Saturdays from 10 – 11am: Dec. 3, 10, 17 only

Games: Saturdays Jan.7 thru Feb. 25 except Feb. 18 (Pres. Day weekend) in the Palisades Basketball League in northwest Washington. Schedule and rosters TBA in mid-December.

4th, 5th, and 6th grade teams play at Key ES.

7th and 8th grade teams play at Lafayette ES.

Season ends with a league tournament in early March.

Pee Wee Division

Fee: $30. Coed ages 4-5 (pre-K & K). Kendall students are free. Please register online.

Sessions: Saturdays 9 - 10am from Jan. 7 to Feb. 25 at Kendall ES at Gallaudet University. Boys and girls groups are formed for clinic-style instruction with very small basketballs and baskets. (NOTE: indoor soccer follows immediately 10 - 11am for the same age group in the same gym. A separate indoor soccer registration ($30) is required).

Developmental Division

Fee: $60. Kendall students are free. Please register online.

Instruction for boys ages 6-7 (grades 1-2) and girls ages 6-8 (grades 1-3) will be at Kendall ES at Gallaudet on Saturdays, Dec. 3 and 10, 17 and Jan. 7 to Feb. 25, including holiday weekends.

Schedule: Boys 6 and girls 6; 11:00am to Noon.

Boys 7 and girls 7-8; Noon to 1:00pm.

Please arrive 10 minutes before starting time.

Separate boys and girls groups are formed for clinic-style instruction with emphasis on fundamental skills evolving into games. Small basketballs and baskets are used.

Clinic #1: Basketball Pre-Season Fundamentals Clinics

Saturdays Oct 22, 29 & Nov 5, 12 -- 4:00pm to 6:00pm Co-ed, Ages 8 – 14 (4th – 8th grade)

Ball handling, Dribbling, Shooting, Defense, and mini-games

$20 per session or $70 for all four --- clinic is for beginners and experienced players.
