Baseball 2008 Summer Baseball 2008
Summer Baseball will be played from Saturday, June 14th to Saturday, July 26th, with a season ending picnic/awards event. Registration is now available. The deadline is May 31 and the fee is $55 per player. Scholarship aid (part or full) is available on request. The age date is May 1, 2008. Figure the age of your kids on May 1 and that will determine what program they can play.
T-BALL - for coed ages 4-6: T-ball begins Saturday, June 14 with Saturday morning and weekday evening sessions at Providence (X) Park (3rd x D St. SE). Check the schedule/roster sections. For questions, contact the age group commissioner Becky Skinner at 546-2101 or becky@pendragwn.com.
COACH PITCH BASEBALL - for coed ages 7-8: Coach Pitch Baseball begins on Saturday, June 14. Teams are now formed and will have one weekday evening and 9:00am Saturday sessions per week at Kingsman Field (13th x D St NE). If you have already registered your child, their coach will contact you before your first practice/game. *NEW* - KID PITCH BASEBALL - for coed ages 9–10:
New this year, featuring a kid pitch format. Sessions will be clinic style combined with intra-squad scrimmages. Location is Payne Field (15th x D St SE). Sessions will be held Wednesdays, 6:15–8:15pm and Saturdays, 9:00–11:00am, from Wednesday, June 18 to Saturday, July 26. Registration is still available. *NEW* - GIRLS' SOFTBALL - for girls ages 9–12: New this year, offering fast-pitch softball for girls. Sessions will be clinic style combined with intra-squad scrimmages. Location is Tyler Field (10th x I St. SE); EXCEPT Monday, June 16 at Garfield Park (2nd x South Carolina Ave. SE). Sessions will be held Mondays, 6:00–8:00pm and Saturdays, 9:00–11:00am, from Monday, June 16 to Saturday, July 26. Registration is still available. leadership group for the summer baseball season. Capitol Hill Baseball and Softball League (CHBSL) president, John Parker, will not be assuming the summer responsibilities but will aid new leaders in the transition.
The ideal solution is to have two commissioners in each age group (6-U Tee-Ball, 7-8 Coach Pitch, and 9-11 Machine Pitch) who will share responsibilities for the 6 week session. Each commissioner should be prepared for a two year stint. The major tasks are establishing the teams, scheduling the games, handing out equipment, and being around for the games, and communicating / coordinating with Sports on the Hill. There is a 100% chance that the commissioners will be coaches as well!
Mr. Parker will continue to handle the development of funds to support the league in the form of team sponsors. Parents of children playing are encouraged to step up and take responsibility to ensure that the 17th Summer Session will carry on without a hitch.
